Optos PLC has introduced MonacoPro, an upgraded ultrawidefield (UWF) imaging system that integrates spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). The new device is designed to improve diagnostic precision and streamline workflow for eyecare professionals, the company said in a press release.
MonacoPro offers enhanced OCT image quality, providing clearer and more detailed visualization of retinal layers. According to Optos, MonacoPro increases the identification of macular pathology by 29.4% when combined with the integrated 200° single-shot optomap imaging, compared to fundus imaging alone. This could assist with earlier and more accurate diagnoses.
A key addition is AreaAssist, a tool that automates the measurement of color-based retinal areas. Users can select and adjust areas with a simple “click and drag” function, reducing the need for manual calculations and improving efficiency.
MonacoPro also includes one of the largest reference databases in retinal imaging, with data from 879 eyes. Unlike previous models, it categorizes information based on optic disc size as well as age, allowing for more precise comparisons and diagnostic benchmarks.
MonacoPro will be available for shipping in March 2025, the company said in the press release.
